If you do not have a PAN Card, you will get PAN Card by filing returns from Aadhar Card.


If you do not have a PAN card and have Aadhar Card, you will no longer have to make an PAN Card. The Income Tax Department said on Monday that if someone files returns through the Aadhar card, then the department will automatically issue a PAN Card to them.

In the budget this year, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced that PAN card will no longer be mandatory for fining income tax returns. She had said that now income tax returns can also be filed only through Aadhar Card. So now the Income Tax Department has decided that the PAN Card will be issued automatically to those who file returns from Aadhar Card.

According to the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) notification dated 30 August, if a person files a return using Aadhar Card and does not have a PAN  Card Number, it will be presumed that he has applied for the issuance of PAN Card. After this, he will not need to file any other documents. This rule be applied from September 1.

The notification states that the tax department will collect other demographic information of the person from Aadhar Card for allotment of PAN Card.
